Repairing Your Vehicle Following An Accident
Check your deductible first. If the damage to your vehicle is minor than it is most likely less than your deductible. If this is the case, it is your responsibility to pay for the repairs yourself. Also, if the damages to repair your vehicle are less than the deductible, it is not necessary for you to file an insurance claim.
An adjuster will be assigned to your claim to estimate the damages to the car and how much the company will pay to have it fixed.
The company will offer you a list of their preferred repair shops, but the choice is ultimately your decision. Keep in mind, if you decide to go on your own, you may have to pay the difference between the estimates, if your body shop comes in with a higher estimate than the insurance company's, unless the increase can be justified.
You may have to pay the difference in cost, if you want brand new parts instead of manufactured or salvaged parts.
